  • when they go to school.

When should you take your child to the dentist for the first time?

Has their first tiny tooth come through? Then it’s time for their first check-up! This is how you and your family can begin your journey of dental health. You’re also welcome at our Egerkingen practice before your little one even sees the light of day. We’ll look out for you, providing a dental check-up and professional teeth cleaning tailored to your special situation as an expectant mother. Both you and your child will benefit:

  • We prevent or limit gum inflammation. This helps the proper progression of your pregnancy. Why? We’ll be happy to explain!
  • Tooth-decay pathogens should be prevented from colonising the oral cavity of your newborn child as far as possible. We know how to do this.

Our offer for pregnant women is regular check-ups, professional teeth cleaning and tips for dental care at home to support the healthy development of your child from day one.

‘Dental check-ups before there’s even a milk tooth in sight? We encourage pregnant patients to look after themselves and thus their baby.’

The dental practice for all the family

Some families don’t even want to leave our waiting room – it has such a warm feel. This is how we make sure everyone starts their treatment relaxed.

This is our offer to families at Dr Sleiter’s practice in Egerkingen:

  • Parking spaces directly in front of the surgery – no need to get the buggy out of the boot.
  • No steps or long corridors – perfect if you have small children who are still being carried.
  • Child-friendly right from reception – we talk to your children at their level.
  • Friendly waiting room – space for everyone to relax and feel calm.
  • Is your child anxious or sensitive to pain? Then we can discuss using laughing gas or special anaesthetics adapted to young, developing bodies.

We’ll be happy to organise an appointment for the whole family for a check-up and treatment. This saves time and has additional benefits, too. Children naturally imitate what adults do. When your little ones see that you trust us as a dentist, they copy you. This way, dental care and treatment become a natural part of their lives.

Laughing gas and anaesthetics – taking the stress out of your child’s visit to the dentist:

We want your children to feel comfortable and safe here at all times. This is especially the case they require treatment. If your child is anxious or has a low pain threshold, we can offer gentle sedation with laughing gas or a suitable anaesthetic. You can find more information here:

Dr Sleiter’s school dental practice – we know the ABC of dentistry for children

Children don’t become adults overnight, but we can help them along the way, even during their school years. Perhaps your children have already seen us! We welcome various groups from nurseries and schools in the Egerkingen area. We travel as far as Wolfwil, looking after schoolchildren as they grow. Schools pay for this provision up to ninth grade, when children are 15 or 16.

Dr Sleiter’s team have developed their own preventive care programme for children. Services for your children at a glance:

  • Basic dental care – we show you and your children how it’s done
  • Regular check-ups – we recommend scheduled appointments every six months, even for infants.
  • Professional teeth cleaning professional teeth cleaning helps children, too, reducing the risk of tooth decay and other issues for milk and adult teeth.
  • Necessary dental treatment – where decay has occurred, for example, we remove the offending areas and provide appropriate fillings. And we take the time to give advice. How can children take care of their teeth every day? What does a healthy diet look like? We don’t shy away from the conversation!

How is your child’s bite developing? When their adult teeth are coming through as well as afterwards, we keep an eye on the position of teeth and jaws. Careful diagnosis and orthodontic treatment are integrated right into our practice. Dr Kristina Sleiter-Bajic’s friendly manner will make your own child feel right at home.

‘As school dentists, we have close relationships with these young people. It’s a stage where they slowly detach themselves from their parents to some degree. But there mustn’t be any interruption in dental care. This is why we get involved in schools.’

Has your child had a dental accident? Don’t delay – take action!

It’s great fun, climbing over the Neu-Falkenstein ruins, for example. Most of the time, it all ends well. But if someone’s tooth does get injured? Here’s what to do:

  • Buy a tooth rescue box. Take a moment to read up on how to look after a tooth in an emergency. If the tooth is loose, leave it in position. Place any broken pieces of tooth in water and come to us immediately or visit an emergency practice. If a tooth gets knocked out, put it in the rescue box.
  • After the emergency treatment, come to our practice in Egerkingen as soon as possible with your child. We’ll check for displacements that might not be visible. Damaged milk teeth impair the development of adult teeth.
